ArangKel hotel FAQs – Rooms & Stay Information
Our hotels remain closed from Mid December to Mid March due to heavy snowfall in Arang Kel. We usually operate from March to December of every year.
Please note that the closure of hotels in the above months is due to snow accumulation and frozen water pipelines.

Murree Expressway/Srinagar highway to Kohala to Muzafarabad.

MUZAFFARABAD ➡ KERAN (105 KM) Travel Time: 3 Hour | Vehicle: Any type
Take Neelum Valley road along with Neelum River from Muzafarabad bypass and travel to keran/Upper Neelum.
Road Condition: Excellent Carpeted
KERAN ➡ SHARDA (32 KM) Travel Time: 1.5 Hour | Vehicle: Any type
Take the same Neelum Valley Road along with Neelum River to reach Sharda.
Road Condition: Excellent Carpeted.
SHARDA ➡ KEL (21 KM) Travel Time: 45 Minutes | Vehicle: Any type
Take the Neelum Valley Road along the Neelum River to reach Kel.
Road Condition: Most of the road is in excellent condition.
KEL ➡ ARANGKEL (0.8 KM)
Time: 15–20 minutes
Vehicle: Off-road Jeep
The journey from Kel to Arangkel covers an off-road track of approximately 0.8 km and takes around 15–20 minutes. Tourists are not allowed to take their own vehicles on this route. Only locally registered jeeps from Kel are permitted to operate up to Arangkel. Please park your car at Kel’s public parking area and hire a local jeep, which will take you directly to Arangkel.
No, you can drive your own car up to Kel. However, from Kel onward to Arangkel, private vehicles are not allowed. This section is an off-road jeep track, and only locally registered jeeps from Kel are permitted to operate. You’ll need to park your car at Kel’s public parking area and continue your journey to Arangkel by local jeep.
In Arang Kel, only SCOM provides mobile network coverage. Other networks like Jazz, Zong, and Telenor do not work in this area. Ufone roaming may work through SCOM’s network, but the signal is weak and unreliable.
You can buy an SCOM SIM from Muzaffarabad, Keran, Sharda, or Kel before reaching Arang Kel. However, availability may vary, so it's best to purchase it in Muzaffarabad for a better chance of finding one from the SCOM franchise.
Pet policy may vary depending on season and occupancy. It is recommended to confirm before booking.
Yes, Arang Kel is generally safe for tourists and is a well-visited destination in Neelum Valley. Travelers visit throughout the season for its natural beauty, and basic safety precautions are recommended like any mountain area.

However, due to the resort’s remote and mountainous location, occasional slowdowns or temporary disruptions may occur, especially during unfavorable weather conditions. While we strive to maintain reliable connectivity, we appreciate your understanding that internet services in such a challenging terrain may not always be uninterrupted.
24/7 hot water is available in all rooms except the Rustic Cottage rooms. In the Rustic Cottage rooms, hot water is provided on a scheduled basis: from 7:00 AM to 11:00 AM in the morning and 7:00 PM to 11:00 PM in the evening.
Arang Kel does not have a proper electricity supply from the government. A small local hydel power station provides electricity to residents, but it is insufficient and operates at very low voltage, making it unreliable, especially for heavy appliances.
Chapter 1 and 2:
Runs on a self-sustained solar power system, backed by generators, ensuring nearly 24-hour uninterrupted electricity.
Deluxe, family, and executive rooms have hybrid heaters using LPG and electricity for safe and comfortable warmth.
• Heating is available for Rs. 1,500 per night.
• Safety Timing: For safety reasons, heating is turned off from 12:00 AM to 6:00 AM.
Bonfires are temporarily not allowed due to a ban implemented by the local authorities and forest department. We appreciate your cooperation.
We provide complimentary breakfast Platter to our customers (No Buffet).
• Timing: Breakfast is served from 8:00 AM to 11:00 AM.
• Menu: Includes Egg, Paratha, Tea, and Chana/Bhujiya.
• Note: Outside this time, breakfast is not complimentary, and customers will have to pay for it.
Yes, flower and balloon decorations are available, but they must be confirmed in advance with payment, as all decoration materials are sourced from Rawalpindi (12 hours away). The decor includes red and white balloons, flower petals, and basic décor with two side table flower bouquets.
Bonfires are not allowed, but a candlelight dinner can be arranged in a private outdoor corner. The food charges depend on the selected menu, while flower and lighting decoration with light music can also be arranged.
